2 - Chapter on the Sitting Posture for Tashahhud, Pointing with the Index Finger, and Other Matters
Hadith Number: 1811
عن عمرو بن سليم انه قال: اخبرني ابو حميد الساعدي انهم قالوا: يا رسول الله! كيف نصلي عليك؟ فقال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم: ((قولوا: اللهم صل على محمد وازواجه وذريته كما صليت على آل إبراهيم، وبارك على محمد وازواجه وذريته كما باركت على آل إبراهيم إنك حميد مجيد))
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Humayd Sa'idi (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Companions said: O Messenger of Allah! How should we send blessings upon you? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Say like this: "O Allah, send blessings upon Muhammad and his wives and his descendants as You sent blessings upon the family of Ibrahim, and bless Muhammad and his wives and his descendants as You blessed the family of Ibrahim. Indeed, You are Praiseworthy, Glorious."
