(Second chain of narration) A man came as a guest to Sayyiduna Abu Darda’ (may Allah be pleased with him). He asked him:“Will you stay so that we may take the mount to the pasture, or will you leave so that we may feed it here?”He replied:“I am going to leave.”Upon hearing this, he said:“Then I will give you provision for the journey, and it is such a provision that if there were anything better than it, I would have given you that. (The details are as follows:) I came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: ‘O Messenger of Allah! The wealthy people are taking away (all the rewards) of this world and the Hereafter. We pray, and they also pray; we fast, and they also fast; but they give charity and we do not give charity.’ The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: ‘Shall I not guide you to something such that if you act upon it, those before you will not surpass you, and those after you will not reach your rank, except those who do as you do? After every prayer, say thirty-three times Subhan Allah, thirty-three times Alhamdulillah, and thirty-four times Allahu Akbar.’
