It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) fell from a horse and his right side was injured. We came to visit him, and during this, the time for prayer arrived. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) led the prayer sitting, and we also prayed sitting (following him). When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) completed the prayer, he said: The Imam is appointed so that he may be followed, so when he says the takbir, you should also say the takbir; when he bows (in ruku‘), you should bow; when he prostrates, you should prostrate; when he says“Sami‘a Allahu liman hamidah,”you should say“Rabbana wa lakal hamd”; and if he leads the prayer sitting, then all of you should pray sitting.
