Chapter on permitting women to go out for that
Hadith Number: 2496
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) says: Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) was a very protective man. When he would go out for prayer, (his wife) Sayyida Atika bint Zayd (may Allah be pleased with her) would also follow behind him. Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) disliked her going out, but he also did not like to stop her. Then he narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: When your women seek permission from you to go to the mosque, do not stop them.
