Book of Funerals
باب من بلي ورفقه به وستره عليه وثواب ذلك
Chapter on one who is afflicted, his gentleness with him, concealing him, and the reward for that
Hadith Number: 3098
عن ابي بن كعب رضي الله عنه: ان آدم عليه السلام قبضته الملائكة وغسلوه وكفنوه وحنطوه وحفروا له والحدوا له وصلوا عليه، ثم دخلوا قبره فوضعوه عليه اللبن ثم خرجوا من القبر ثم حثوا عليه التراب، ثم قالوا: يا بني آدم! هذه سنتكم
Sayyiduna Ubayy bin Ka'b (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The angels took the soul of Adam (peace be upon him), then they bathed him, shrouded him, and applied fragrance. After that, they dug his grave and prepared the lahd (side chamber). Then they offered his funeral prayer, entered his grave, and lowered him into it. Then they placed bricks over him, came out of the grave, and poured soil over it, and said: O children of Adam! This is the method for burying your dead.
تخریج الحدیث: «ھذا حديث طويل، اسناده ضعيف، عتي بن ضمرة السعدي يضعف فيما يتفرد به لجھالته، وان وثقه بعضھم أخرجه الحاكم: 2/ 545، والطبراني في ’’الأوسط‘‘: 8257، والطيالسي: 549، وابن ابي شيبة: 3/ 243، والبيھقي: 3/ 404، وبعضھم يختصره، (انظر مسند أحمد ترقيم الرسالة: 21240 ترقیم بيت الأفكار الدولية: 21560»
