Chapter: Kindness to the Beggar, Thinking Well of Him, and Giving to Him Even If He Comes on a Horse
Hadith Number: 3548
Sayyiduna Amr bin Mu’adh Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him) says: A beggar came and stood at their door. His grandmother, Sayyida Hawwa (may Allah be pleased with her), said to him:“Give him some dates.”The family members said:“We do not have any dates.”She then said:“Then give him some roasted barley flour to drink.”The family members said:“It is strange of you; how can we give what we do not have?”She said:“I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: Do not send a beggar away (empty-handed), even if what you give him is a burnt hoof.”
