Chapter: What Has Been Reported Regarding Tamattu‘ with Umrah Before Hajj
Hadith Number: 4186
Salim bin Abi Al-Ja’d says: We set out for Hajj in the company of Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him). When we reached the place of Dhul-Hulaifah, Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I intend to perform Hajj and Umrah together, so whoever wishes to do so should say as I say. Then he recited the Talbiyah as follows:“Labbayka bi-Hajjin wa ‘Umratin ma’an”(I am present, with both Hajj and Umrah together). Salim says that Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) told me this: By Allah! During the journey, my leg was touching the leg of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and he (peace and blessings be upon him) was reciting the Talbiyah for both Hajj and Umrah together.
