Section on What Has Been Reported Regarding the Superiority of Shaving Over Trimming
Hadith Number: 4538
حدثنا عبد الله حدثني ابي ثنا يحيى بن آدم وابن ابي بكير قالا: ثنا إسرائيل عن ابي إسحاق عن حبشي بن جنادة قال يحيى: وكان ممن شهد حجة الوداع قال: قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم: ((اللهم اغفر للمحلقين)) قالوا: يا رسول الله! والمقصرين؟ قال: ((اللهم اغفر للمحلقين)) قالوا: يا رسول الله! والمقصرين؟ قال في الثالثة: ((والمقصرين))
Narrated by Sayyiduna Habshi bin Junadah (may Allah be pleased with him), who was present at the occasion of the Farewell Pilgrimage, that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: O Allah! Forgive those who have shaved their heads. The people said: O Messenger of Allah! And those who have trimmed their hair? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) again said: O Allah! Forgive those who have shaved their heads. The people said: O Messenger of Allah! And those who have trimmed their hair? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said for the third time: And forgive those who have trimmed their hair as well.
