Chapter on the Time of 'Aqiqah, Naming the Newborn, Shaving His Head, and Giving Charity Equal to the Weight of His Hair in Silver
Hadith Number: 4736
عن سمرة رضي الله عنه ان رسول الله صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم قال كل غلام رهين بعقيقته تذبح عنه يوم السابع ويحلق راسه ويسمى
Narrated from Sayyiduna Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Every child is held in pledge for his 'aqiqah; on the seventh day, an animal should be sacrificed on his behalf, his head should be shaved, and he should be named.
