Rabi’ bin Hirash (may Allah have mercy on him) says: Sayyiduna Ali bin Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him) delivered a sermon at Rahbah, and after praising Allah Almighty, he spoke a few words, then asked for a vessel of water. He rinsed his mouth with it and wiped his hands over (his face, arms, head, and feet), and drank the leftover water from the vessel (according to one narration, the leftover water from ablution) while standing, and then said:“It has reached me that one of you dislikes drinking water while standing. This is his ablution, which has not become invalid, and I saw the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) do the same.”
