Narrated by Sayyiduna Abu Bakrah (may Allah be pleased with him): The major sins were mentioned in the presence of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Associating partners with Allah and disobedience to parents are major sins. He was reclining while saying this, then he sat up straight and said: And giving false testimony, giving false testimony or speaking falsehood (are also major sins). Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) repeated this statement so many times that we began to say, "Would that he (peace and blessings be upon him) would become silent." On one occasion, it was narrated that Sayyiduna Abu Bakrah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: We were sitting with the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) when he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Shall I not inform you of the gravest of sins?
