Chapter: Prohibition of killing house snakes except after warning them, except the short-tailed and two-striped, for they are to be killed
Hadith Number: 6497
Imam Nafi narrates that Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) used to order the killing of all kinds of snakes. One day, Sayyiduna Abu Lubabah (may Allah be pleased with him) sought permission from him to enter the mosque through his window and saw him killing a snake. So Sayyiduna Abu Lubabah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Has it not reached you that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade killing household snakes and ordered the killing of that snake which has two stripes on its back?
