Explanation of Impediments to Marriage
باب حكم الوليمة واستحبابها بالشاة فأكثر وجوازها بدونها
Chapter: Ruling on the Wedding Feast, Its Recommendation with a Sheep or More, and Its Permissibility Without It
Hadith Number: 7033
عن ثابت البناني عن انس رضي الله عنه ان رسول الله صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم جعل وليمة صفية بنت حيي التمر والاقط والسمن قال فحصت الارض افاحيص قال وجيء بالانطاع فوضعت فيها ثم جيء بالاقط والتمر والسمن فشبع الناس
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) held the wedding banquet (walima) of Sayyidah Safiyyah bint Huyayy (may Allah be pleased with her) with dates, cheese, and ghee. The ground was dug and leveled, then tablecloths were spread, and on them were placed cheese, dates, and ghee. The people ate to their fill.
