Chapter on encouragement to thank the benefactor and to reciprocate good deeds
Hadith Number: 9238
عن المغيرة بن شعبة رضي الله عنه قال قام رسول الله صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم حتى تورمت قدماه فقيل يا رسول الله قد غفر الله لك ما تقدم من ذنبك قال اولا اكون عبدا شكورا
Sayyiduna Mughira bin Shu’bah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) would stand (in prayer) for such a long time that his feet would swell. Someone said: O Messenger of Allah! Indeed, Allah Almighty has forgiven your past sins. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) replied: Should I not be a greatly thankful servant?
