باب ما جاء فيمن أصدق سرا مهرا وأعلن أكثر من ذلك
Chapter: What is reported regarding one who secretly gives a dowry and publicly announces more than that
Hadith Number: 998
نا هشيم، انا خالد، عن ابن سيرين، عن شريح ," فيمن اصدق سرا واعلن اكثر من ذلك انه اجاز السر، وابطل العلانية" . قال هشيم: وهو القول عندنا.
It is narrated from Ibn Sirin (may Allah have mercy on him) regarding Shurayh (may Allah have mercy on him) that if someone secretly agreed upon a dowry (mahr) for marriage and publicly declared a higher amount, then Shurayh (may Allah have mercy on him) considered the secret (mahr) valid and the public one invalid. Hisham said: "This is also our opinion."
