Clarification that the Quran leads those who follow it to Paradise and those who neglect it to Hell
Hadith Number: 124
Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates this statement of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him): "The Qur'an is such an intercessor whose intercession will be accepted, and such a disputant (i.e., it will argue in the court of Allah for its reciter) whose testimony will be confirmed. Whoever makes it his leader, it will lead him to Paradise, and whoever puts it behind his back, it will drive him to Hell."
(Imam Ibn Hibban, may Allah have mercy on him, says:) Whoever does not have expertise in the science of hadith, this wording of the narration may cause him to fall into the misunderstanding that the Qur'an is created and is a creature, whereas this is not the case. The meaning of these words is: as we have written in our books, the Arabs in their idiom sometimes apply the name of a thing to its cause, just as they apply the name of the cause to the thing itself. So when acting upon the Qur'an leads a person to Paradise, the name of acting upon the Qur'an is applied to its cause, i.e., the Qur'an itself. This does not mean that the Qur'an is created.
