Chapter on the Obligation to Follow the Imam - Command to complete the first row, then the next, as the angels do
Hadith Number: 2154
اخبرنا احمد بن علي بن المثنى ، قال: حدثنا إسحاق بن إبراهيم المروزي ، قال: حدثنا جرير ، عن الاعمش ، عن المسيب بن رافع ، عن تميم بن طرفة ، عن جابر بن سمرة ، قال: دخل رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم المسجد، فقال: " الا تصفون كما تصف الملائكة عند ربهم؟". قالوا: يا رسول الله، وكيف تصف الملائكة عند ربهم؟. قال:" يتمون الصفوف الاول، ويتراصون في الصف" .
Sayyiduna Jabir bin Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came to the mosque. He said: Why do you not form rows as the angels form rows before their Lord? The people asked: O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! How do the angels form rows before their Lord? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: They complete the first row first and then do not leave any gaps in the rows.
