Chapter on the Obligation to Follow the Imam – Obligation for Men to Wait Until Women Have Left Before Attending to Their Needs
Hadith Number: 2234
اخبرنا ابو يعلى ، قال: حدثنا ابو خيثمة ، قال: حدثنا عثمان بن عمر ، قال: اخبرنا يونس بن يزيد ، عن الزهري ، عن هند بنت الحارث ، عن ام سلمة ، قالت: كن النساء في عهد رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم، " إذا سلم من المكتوبة قمن، وثبت رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم، ومن صلى خلفه من الرجال، فإذا قام رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم، قام الرجال" .
Sayyida Umm Salama (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: In the blessed time of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), women would stand up when the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) finished the obligatory prayer with salam, and the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and the men who prayed behind him would remain seated. Then, when the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) stood up, the men would also stand up.
