Section on Night Prayer - Mention of the narration indicating the Prophet’s (peace be upon him) night prayer varied as interpreted from the narrations
Hadith Number: 2617
اخبرنا ابو يعلى ، قال: حدثنا ابو خيثمة ، قال: حدثنا يزيد بن هارون ، قال: اخبرنا حميد ، عن انس بن مالك ، قال: " ما كنا نشاء ان نرى النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم من الليل مصليا إلا رايناه مصليا، وما كنا نشاء نراه نائما من الليل إلا رايناه نائما" .
Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: If we wished to see the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) performing voluntary prayers at night, we would see him performing them, and if we wished to see him sleeping at night, we would see him sleeping as well.
