Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I came to the service of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), I touched him and said: O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him)! You have a very severe fever. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: Yes, I suffer from fever as two men among you suffer. I said: Because of this, do you receive a double reward? The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: Yes! Then the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: By the One in Whose hand is my soul, whenever any Muslim on the face of the earth is afflicted with illness or any other hardship, Allah Almighty removes his sins just as a tree sheds its leaves.
