Hadith Number: 3079
Dawud bin Amir narrates from his father: He was sitting with Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them). Meanwhile, the owner of the house came and said: O Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them), have you not heard what Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates? He says: He heard the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) saying: "Whoever goes from the house of the deceased with the funeral, until the funeral prayer is offered, then remains with it until it is buried, that person will receive two qirats of reward, each qirat being as great as Mount Uhud. And whoever returns after offering the funeral prayer and does not remain with the funeral, he will receive a reward of one qirat, which is as great as Mount Uhud." So Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) said: Go to Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) and ask her about this statement of Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him), and then come back to me and tell me what Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) replied. The narrator says: Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) took pebbles in his fist and began turning them over in his hand, until the messenger returned and informed: Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) said: Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) has spoken the truth. So Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) threw the pebbles from his hand towards the ground and said: Then we have lost many qirats.
