Sayyiduna Usama bin Zaid (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) instructed me, and I went with him to his daughter, Sayyida Zainab (may Allah be pleased with her), who was breathing her last. Her breath was labored. The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whatever Allah takes belongs to Him, and whatever He gives also belongs to Him, and everything has an appointed time. The narrator states: Tears began to flow from the eyes of the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him). Sayyiduna Sa’d bin Ubadah (may Allah be pleased with him) submitted to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon you)! Are you weeping? Did you not forbid weeping? The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: This is mercy, which Allah has placed in the hearts of His servants, and Allah only shows mercy to those of His servants who are merciful.
