باب صوم التطوع - ذكر مغفرة الله جل وعلا للمسلم ذنوب سنة بصيام يوم عاشوراء وتفضله جل وعلا عليه بمغفرة ذنوب سنتين بصيام يوم عرفة
Chapter on Voluntary Fasting - Allah forgives a year’s sins for fasting Ashura and two years for fasting Arafah
Hadith Number: 3631
اخبرنا الحسن بن سفيان ، حدثنا محمد بن المنهال الضرير ، حدثنا يزيد بن زريع ، حدثنا سعيد ، حدثنا قتادة ، عن غيلان بن جرير، عن عبد الله بن معبد ، عن ابي قتادة ، ان رجلا سال النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم، فقال: يا رسول الله، ارايت رجلا يصوم يوم عاشوراء؟ قال:" ذاك صوم سنة"، قال: ارايت رجلا يصوم يوم عرفة؟ قال:" يكفر السنة، وما قبلها" .
Sayyiduna Abu Qatadah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: A man asked the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). He said: O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! What is your opinion about a person who fasts on the day of Ashura? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: It is equal to fasting for a whole year. He asked: What is your opinion about a person who fasts on the day of Arafah? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: It wipes out the sins of the previous year and the coming year.
