Chapter: The guardian – Rejection of a guardian marrying off an adult woman without her consent
Hadith Number: 4085
اخبرنا ابو يعلى ، حدثنا عبد الله بن عامر بن زرارة ، حدثنا يحيى بن ابي زائدة ، عن يونس بن ابي إسحاق ، عن ابي بردة بن ابي موسى ، عن ابيه ، قال: قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم: " تستامر اليتيمة في نفسها، فإن سكتت فقد اذنت، وإن ابت لم تكره" .
Abu Burdah bin Abu Musa narrates from his father (Sayyiduna Abu Musa Ash'ari, may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The consent of a virgin girl regarding herself will be sought; if she remains silent, then she has given permission, and if she refuses, then she will not be forced."
