Sa’sa’ah bin Mu’awiyah, who is the uncle of Sayyiduna Ahnaf bin Qais (may Allah be pleased with him), narrates: I visited Sayyiduna Abu Dharr Ghifari (may Allah be pleased with him) in“Rabadha.”I asked: O Sayyiduna Abu Dharr, what is your wealth? He replied: My wealth is my deeds. I said: Please narrate to us a hadith from the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) which you heard directly from him. He said: I heard the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say:“Whoever spends a pair of anything from his wealth in the way of Allah, the gatekeepers of Paradise rush towards him.”(The narrator says) I asked: What is meant by a pair? He replied: That he gives two horses from his horses, or two camels from his camels, or two slaves from his slaves. (Imam Ibn Hibban, may Allah have mercy on him, says:) In their idiom, the Arabs use the word“pair”for two similar things. Allah Almighty has also said:“And We have created pairs of everything.”
