باب الموادعة والمهادنة - ذكر خبر أوهم غير المتبحر في صناعة الحديث أن عدد المسلمين يوم الحديبية كان دون القدر الذي ذكرناه-
Chapter on Truce and Peace Treaties – On a report that misled some into thinking the number of Muslims at Hudaybiyyah was less than what was mentioned.
Hadith Number: 4875
اخبرنا اخبرنا ابن قتيبة، قال: حدثنا يزيد بن موهب، قال: حدثني الليث، عن ابي الزبير، عن جابر ، انه قال: " كنا يوم الحديبية الفا واربع مئة، فبايعناه وعمر آخذ بيده تحت الشجرة وهي السمرة، وقال: بايعناه على ان لا نفر، ولم نبايعه على الموت" .
Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: On the occasion of the Treaty of Hudaybiyyah, our number was one thousand four hundred. We pledged allegiance to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) was holding the blessed hand of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) under the tree. It was a samurah tree. He stated that we pledged allegiance to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) on the condition that we would not flee. We did not pledge allegiance to him upon death.
