Sayyiduna Abu Humayd (may Allah be pleased with him) and Sayyiduna Abu Usaid (may Allah be pleased with him) narrate this statement of the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him):
“When you hear something attributed to me that your mind accepts, and your hair and skin become soft for it, and you feel that this matter is close to you, then I am most entitled to that statement among you. And when you hear something attributed to me that your mind rejects, and your hair and skin feel aversion to it, and you feel that you are distant from it, then I am the most distant from that statement among you.”
