Abdullah bin Buraidah narrates from his father: He entered the mosque with the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), where a man was performing prayer and supplicating. He was saying: "O Allah! I ask You and I bear witness to You that there is no deity except You, You are One and As-Samad, You have not begotten nor were You begotten, and there is none comparable to You." So the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: "By the One in Whose hand is my soul, he has asked Allah by His Name, which, when asked by it, He gives, and when supplicated by it, He answers." Then a man was reciting in a corner of the mosque, and the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: "This person has been given the melodious voice of Dawud (David), peace be upon him. This is Abdullah bin Qais (i.e., Abu Musa Ash'ari)." The narrator says: I asked the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him): "O Messenger of Allah! Should I inform him?" The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: "You may inform him." I told Abu Musa Ash'ari (may Allah be pleased with him) this, and he said: "You will always remain my friend." The narrator named Zaid bin Hubab says: I narrated this tradition to Zuhair bin Mu'awiyah, and he said: I heard Abu Ishaq Sabi'i narrate this hadith from Malik bin Mighwal.
