It is narrated from Sayyiduna Al-Bahzi (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) set out from Madinah to go to Makkah while he was in the state of ihram. When he reached the place of Ruha’, there was a wild donkey lying there, wounded, with its shanks cut. When the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was informed about it, he said:“Leave it, perhaps its owner or the one who hunted it will come.”Then Bahzi (may Allah be pleased with him) came, who was its owner or the one who had hunted it, and he said: O Messenger of Allah! You may take it. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) then ordered Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) to distribute it among the companions. Then he continued on until he reached the place of Athayah between Ruwaytha and ‘Arj, and saw a gazelle standing with its head bowed in the shade, and it had been struck by an arrow. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered a man to stand by it so that none of the people would disturb it until the people had moved on from there.
