And with this same chain of narration, it is narrated that (Sayyiduna Abdullah ibn Abbas, may Allah be pleased with them, said): In the time of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, there was a solar eclipse, so the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, led the people in prayer. He stood for a very long time, equal to (the recitation of) Surah Al-Baqarah, then he performed a very long bowing (ruku‘), then he stood up again for a standing (qiyam) that was shorter than the first, then he performed a long bowing that was shorter than the first bowing, then the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, prostrated. Then (in the second rak‘ah) he stood for a long time, which was shorter than the previous standing, then he performed a long bowing, which was shorter than the previous bowing, then when he rose from bowing, he stood for a long time, which was shorter than the previous standing, then he performed a long bowing, which was shorter than the previous bowing, then the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, prostrated, then he completed the prayer with salam, and the sun had become bright. Then the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, delivered a sermon to the people and said:The sun and the moon are two signs among the signs of Allah; they do not eclipse because of anyone’s death or life. Therefore, if you witness such a state, then remember Allah. The people said: O Messenger of Allah! We saw that you, standing at your place, tried to grasp something, then we saw that you stepped back? The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said:I saw Paradise, or Paradise was shown to me, so I intended to take a bunch from it, and if I had taken it, you would have eaten from it as long as the world remains. And I saw the Fire (of Hell), and I have never seen a more terrifying sight than that, and I saw that the majority of its inhabitants were women. The people asked: O Messenger of Allah! Why is that? The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said:Because of their ingratitude. It was asked: Do they show ingratitude to Allah? The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said:They are ungrateful to their husbands, that is, they are ungrateful for kindness. If you do good to one of them for a lifetime, then she sees something (from you) that she dislikes, she will say: ‘I have never seen any good from you.’
