Ubaid (Abu Ubaidah), may Allah have mercy on him, says: I cooked a pot of (meat) for the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him. The meat of the foreleg (zara‘/shank) was very beloved to him, so I presented a foreleg to him. The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said:“Give me another foreleg.”I presented another. Then he said:“Give me another foreleg.”So I said: O Messenger of Allah! How many forelegs does a goat have? The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said:“By Him in Whose hand is my soul, if you had remained silent, as long as I kept asking, you would have continued to give me forelegs.”
