Chapter: What has been reported concerning the death of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ)
Everything darkened after the Prophet's death
Hadith Number: 393
حدثنا بشر بن هلال الصواف البصري، قال: حدثنا جعفر بن سليمان، عن ثابت، عن انس قال: «لما كان اليوم الذي دخل فيه رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم المدينة اضاء منها كل شيء، فلما كان اليوم الذي مات فيه اظلم منها كل شيء، وما نفضنا ايدينا من التراب، وإنا لفي دفنه صلى الله عليه وسلم حتى انكرنا قلوبنا»
Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: When the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) arrived in Madinah (at the time of migration), everything in Madinah became illuminated, and on the day when he (peace and blessings be upon him) passed away, everything became dark (due to grief). We had not yet dusted the soil off our hands and were still engaged in the burial when, at that very moment, we felt our hearts had become estranged as never before.
تخریج الحدیث: { «سنده حسن» }:
«(سنن ترمذي: 3618، وقال: هذا حديث صحيح غريب)، سنن ابن ماجه (1631) عن بشربن هلال به، صحيح ابن حبان (2162) وصححه الحاكم عليٰ شرط مسلم (57/3) ووافقه الذهبي.»
