كتاب العتق
The Book of Manumission (of Slaves)
باب إذا أعتق نصيبا فى عبد، وليس له مال، استسعي العبد غير مشقوق عليه، على نحو الكتابة:
(5) Chapter. Whoever manumits his portion of a common slave and does not possess enough money to manumit him completely, then that slave should be helped to work without hardship to earn what will enable him to get complete freedom according to the writing (of emancipation)
Hadith Number: 2526
حدثنا احمد ابن ابي رجاء، حدثنا يحيى بن آدم، حدثنا جرير بن حازم، سمعت قتادة، قال: حدثني النضر بن انس بن مالك، عن بشير بن نهيك، عن ابي هريرة رضي الله عنه، قال: قال النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم: من اعتق شقيصا من عبد.
Narrated Abu Huraira: That the Prophet said, "Whoever frees his portion of a (common) slave."

Hadith Number: 2492
حدثنا بشر بن محمد، اخبرنا عبد الله اخبرنا سعيد بن ابي عروبة، عن قتادة، عن النضر بن انس، عن بشير بن نهيك، عن ابي هريرة رضي الله عنه، عن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم، قال:" من اعتق شقيصا من مملوكه فعليه خلاصه في ماله، فإن لم يكن له مال قوم المملوك قيمة عدل، ثم استسعي غير مشقوق عليه".
Narrated Abu Huraira: The Prophet said, "Whoever manumits his share of a jointly possessed slave, it is imperative for him to get that slave manumitted completely by paying the remaining price, and if he does not have sufficient money to manumit him, then the price of the slave should be estimated justly, and he is to be allowed to work and earn the amount that will manumit him (without overburdening him)".
