The Book of Ar-Riqaq (Softening of The Hearts)
باب قول الله تعالى: {يا أيها الناس إن وعد الله حق فلا تغرنكم الحياة الدنيا ولا يغرنكم بالله الغرور إن الشيطان لكم عدو فاتخذوه عدوا إنما يدعو حزبه ليكونوا من أصحاب السعير} :
(8) Chapter. The Statement of Allah:“O mankind! Verily the Promise of Allah is true. So let not this present life deceive you, and let not the chief deceiver (Satan) deceive you about Allah. Surely, Satan is an enemy to you, so take (treat) him as an enemy. He only invites his Hizb (followers) that they may become the dwellers of the Blazing Fire.”(V.35:5,6)
Hadith Number: 6433
حدثنا سعد بن حفص، حدثنا شيبان، عن يحيى، عن محمد بن إبراهيم القرشي، قال: اخبرني معاذ بن عبد الرحمن، ان حمران بن ابان، اخبره، قال: اتيت عثمان بن عفان بطهور وهو جالس على المقاعد، فتوضا فاحسن الوضوء، ثم قال: رايت النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم توضا وهو في هذا المجلس فاحسن الوضوء، ثم قال:" من توضا مثل هذا الوضوء، ثم اتى المسجد فركع ركعتين، ثم جلس غفر له ما تقدم من ذنبه، قال: وقال النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم: لا تغتروا".
Narrated Ibn `Abbas: I brought water to `Uthman bin `Affan to perform the ablution while he was sitting on his seat. He performed the ablution in a perfect way and said, "I saw the Prophet performing the ablution in this place and he performed it in a perfect way and said, "Whoever performs the ablution as I have done this time and then proceeds to the mosque and offers a two-rak`at prayer and then sits there (waiting for the compulsory congregational prayers), then all his past sins will be forgiven." The Prophet further added, "Do not be conceited (thinking that your sins will be forgiven because of your prayer).

Hadith Number: 160
وعن إبراهيم، قال: قال صالح بن كيسان، قال ابن شهاب: ولكن عروة يحدث، عن حمران، فلما توضا عثمان، قال: الا احدثكم حديثا لولا آية ما حدثتكموه، سمعت النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم يقول: لا يتوضا رجل فيحسن وضوءه ويصلي الصلاة، إلا غفر له ما بينه وبين الصلاة حتى يصليها. قال عروة الآية: إن الذين يكتمون ما انزلنا من البينات سورة البقرة آية 159.
After performing the ablution 'Uthman said, "I am going to tell you a Hadith which I would not have told you, had I not been compelled by a certain Holy Verse (the sub narrator 'Urwa said: This verse is: "Verily, those who conceal the clear signs and the guidance which we have sent down...)" (2:159). I heard the Prophet saying, 'If a man performs ablution perfectly and then offers the compulsory congregational prayer, Allah will forgive his sins committed between that (prayer) and the (next) prayer till he offers it.

Hadith Number: 164
حدثنا ابو اليمان، قال: اخبرنا شعيب، عن الزهري، قال: اخبرني عطاء بن يزيد، عن حمران مولى عثمان بن عفان، انه راى عثمان بن عفان دعا بوضوء، فافرغ على يديه من إنائه فغسلهما ثلاث مرات، ثم ادخل يمينه في الوضوء، ثم تمضمض واستنشق واستنثر، ثم غسل وجهه ثلاثا ويديه إلى المرفقين ثلاثا، ثم مسح براسه، ثم غسل كل رجل ثلاثا، ثم قال: رايت النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم يتوضا نحو وضوئي هذا، وقال:" من توضا نحو وضوئي هذا، ثم صلى ركعتين لا يحدث فيهما نفسه، غفر الله له ما تقدم من ذنبه".
Narrated Humran: (the freed slave of `Uthman bin `Affan) I saw `Uthman bin `Affan asking (for a tumbler of water) to perform ablution (and when it was brought) he poured water from it over his hands and washed them thrice and then put his right hand in the water container and rinsed his mouth and washed his nose by putting water in it and then blowing it out. Then he washed his face thrice and (then) forearms up to the elbows thrice, then passed his wet hands over his head and then washed each foot thrice. After that `Uthman said, "I saw the Prophet performing ablution like this of mine, and he said, 'If anyone performs ablution like that of mine and offers a two-rak`at prayer during which he does not think of anything else (not related to the present prayer) then his past sins will be forgiven. '
