The Book on Drinks
باب مَا جَاءَ أَنَّ الأَيْمَنَ أَحَقُّ بِالشَّرَابِ
Chapter: Those on the right side are more deserving of the drink.
Hadith Number: 1893
حدثنا الانصاري، حدثنا معن، حدثنا مالك، قال: وحدثنا قتيبة، عن مالك، عن ابن شهاب، عن انس، ان النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم " اتي بلبن قد شيب بماء، وعن يمينه اعرابي، وعن يساره ابو بكر، فشرب، ثم اعطى الاعرابي، وقال: الايمن فالايمن "، قال: وفي الباب عن ابن عباس، وسهل بن سعد، وابن عمر، وعبد الله بن بسر، قال ابو عيسى: هذا حديث حسن صحيح.
Narrated by Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him): Milk mixed with water was presented to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). On his right was a Bedouin and on his left was Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him). He drank the milk, then gave the remainder to the Bedouin and said: "The one on the right has more right (to be served first)."
Imam Tirmidhi says:
1- This hadith is Hasan Sahih.
2- In this chapter, hadiths have also been narrated from Ibn Abbas, Sahl bin Sa’d, Ibn Umar, and Abdullah bin Busr (may Allah be pleased with them).
