بَابُ مَا جَاءَ فِي شَيْبِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ
Chapter: What has been reported concerning the gray hair of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ)
The Prophet (peace be upon him) Did Not Use Dye
Hadith Number: 37
حدثنا محمد بن بشار قال: اخبرنا ابو داود قال: اخبرنا همام، عن قتادة قال: قلت لانس بن مالك: هل خضب رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم؟ قال: «لم يبلغ ذلك، إنما كان شيبا في صدغيه» ولكن ابو بكر، خضب بالحناء والكتم"
It is narrated from Imam Qatadah, may Allah have mercy on him, that he said: I asked Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik, may Allah be pleased with him, "Did the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, dye (his white hair)?" So Sayyiduna Anas, may Allah be pleased with him, replied: "The blessed hair of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, did not reach that state; only a few hairs at his temples had turned white. Yes, Sayyiduna Abu Bakr, may Allah be pleased with him, dyed (his hair) with henna and katam."
