Urwah reports that Lady Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) said to me: My nephew! The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) did not give preference to any one of us (the Mothers of the Believers) over another in the division of days. He would visit all his wives almost every day and would be close to each wife, but he would not have intercourse, until he reached the one whose day it was, and he would spend the night with her. When Lady Sawdah bint Zam’ah (may Allah be pleased with her) became old and feared that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) might leave her, she said: O Messenger of Allah! The day of my turn is for Lady Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her). The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) accepted her offer. Regarding such matters, this verse was revealed: «وَإِنِ امْرَأَةٌ خَافَتْ مِنْ بَعْلِهَا نُشُوزًا» “If a woman fears indifference or aversion from her husband, then…”(4-An-Nisa:128)
