كِتَاب أَحَادِيثِ الْأَنْبِيَاءِ
The Book of The Stories of The Prophets
بَابُ: {وَاذْكُرْ عَبْدَنَا دَاوُدَ ذَا الأَيْدِ إِنَّهُ أَوَّابٌ} إِلَى قَوْلِهِ: {وَفَصْلَ الْخِطَابِ}:
Chapter. The Statement of Allah:“...And remember Our slave Dawud (David), endued with power. Verily, he was ever oft-returning in all matters and in repentance (toward Allah)... (up to)... And sound judgement in speech and decision." (V.38:17-20)
Hadith Number: Q3421
قال مجاهد: الفهم في القضاء ولا تشطط سورة ص آية 22 لا تسرف واهدنا إلى سواء الصراط سورة ص آية 22 إن هذا اخي له تسع وتسعون نعجة سورة ص آية 23 يقال للمراة نعجة ويقال لها ايضا شاة ولي نعجة واحدة فقال اكفلنيها سورة ص آية 23 مثل وكفلها زكريا سورة آل عمران آية 37ضمها وعزني سورة ص آية 23 غلبني صار اعز مني اعززته جعلته عزيزا في الخطاب سورة ص آية 23 يقال المحاورة قال لقد ظلمك بسؤال نعجتك إلى نعاجه وإن كثيرا من الخلطاء سورة ص آية 24 الشركاء ليبغي إلى قوله انما فتناه سورة ص آية 24 قال ابن عباس: اختبرناه وقرا عمر فتناه بتشديد التاء فاستغفر ربه وخر راكعا واناب سورة ص آية 24.
Mujahid said that «فصل الخطاب» means understanding of judgment. «ولا تشطط» means do not be unjust and guide us to the straight path. "This man is my brother; he has ninety-nine «نعجة» (ewes)." The word «نعجة» is also used for a woman, and «نعجة» is also said for a goat. "And I have only one ewe, so he says, 'Give it to me as well.'" This is like «كفلها زكرياء» , meaning «ضمها» . "And he overpowers me in speech." Dawud (peace be upon him) said, "He has certainly wronged you by asking for your ewe to add to his ewes, and indeed many partners oppress one another." Up to Allah the Exalted's statement «أنما فتناه» . Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) said that ( «فتناه» means) We tested them. Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) used to recite it with a shaddah on the letter ta: «فتناه» . "So they sought forgiveness from their Lord, and they bowed and turned in repentance."

Hadith Number: 3421
حدثنا محمد، حدثنا سهل بن يوسف، قال: سمعت العوام، عن مجاهد، قال: قلت: لابن عباس اسجد في ص فقرا ومن ذريته داود وسليمان حتى اتى فبهداهم اقتده سورة الانعام آية 84 - 90 فقال: ابن عباس رضي الله عنهما نبيكم صلى الله عليه وسلم ممن امر ان يقتدي بهم.
Narrated Mujahid: I asked Ibn `Abbas, "Should we perform a prostration on reciting Surat-Sa`d?" He recited (the Sura) including: 'And among his progeny, David, Solomon..(up to)...so follow their guidance (6.84-91) And then he said, "Your Prophet is amongst those people who have been ordered to follow them (i.e. the preceding apostles).

Hadith Number: 3422
حدثنا موسى بن إسماعيل، حدثنا وهيب، حدثنا ايوب، عن عكرمة، عن ابن عباس رضي الله عنهما، قال:" ليس ص من عزائم السجود، ورايت النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم يسجد فيها".
Narrated Ibn `Abbas: The prostration in Sura-Sa`d is not amongst the compulsory prostrations, though I saw the Prophet prostrating on reciting it.
