Hadith Number: 945
عن المسور بن مخرمة: ان سبيعة الاسلمية نفست بعد وفاة زوجها بليال فجاءت النبي صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم فاستاذنته ان تنكح فاذن لها فنكحت. رواه البخاري واصله في الصحيحين. وفي لفظ:"انها وضعت بعد وفاة زوجها باربعين ليلة". وفي لفظ لمسلم قال الزهري: ولا ارى باسا ان تزوج وهي في دمها غير انه لا يقربها زوجها حتى تطهر.
Narrated al-Miswar bin Makhramah (RA): Some nights after her husband's death, Subai'ah al-Aslamiyah (RA) gave birth to a child. Then she went to the Prophet ( صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ) and asked permission to marry. He gave her permission and she married. [Reported by al-Bukhari] . Its basic meaning is found in the two Sahih books of al-Bukhari and Muslim. A wording has: "She gave birth to a child after forty nights of her husband's death." A wording by Muslim has: az-Zuhri said, "I think there is no harm if she marries when she is still bleeding (due to child-birth), but her husband should not go near her till she is purified."
Hadith Number: 946
وعن عائشة رضي الله عنها قالت: امرت بريرة ان تعتد بثلاث حيض. رواه ابن ماجه ورواته ثقات لكنه معلول.
Narrated 'Aishah (RA): Barirah was ordered to wait till three menstrual periods of hers have passed (before she could remarry). [Reported by Ibn Majah. Its narrators are reliable, but it is Ma'lul (having a hidden defect)] .
Hadith Number: 947
وعن الشعبي عن فاطمة بنت قيس رضي الله عنها عن النبي صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم في المطلقة ثلاثا: «ليس لها سكنى ولا نفقة» . رواه مسلم.
Narrated ash-Sha'bi from Fatimah (RA) daughter of Qais on the authority of the Prophet ( صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ) regarding a woman who was divorced by three pronouncements: "She has no right to accommodation or maintenance." [Reported by Muslim] .
Hadith Number: 948
وعن ام عطية رضي الله عنها ان رسول الله صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم قال: «لا تحد امراة على ميت فوق ثلاث إلا على زوج اربعة اشهر وعشرا ولا تلبس ثوبا مصبوغا إلا ثوب عصب ولا تكتحل ولا تمس طيبا إلا إذا طهرت نبذة من قسط او اظفار» . متفق عليه وهذا لفظ مسلم. ولابي داود والنسائي من الزيادة: «ولا تختضب» وللنسائي: «ولا تمتشط»
Narrated Umm 'Atiyah (RA): Allah's Messenger ( صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ) said: "A woman must not observe her mourning for more than three nights for the one who has died, except for the four months and ten days in the case of her husband; and she must not wear a dyed garment except one of the type made of 'Ash (dyed yarn) or apply Kuhl (antimony), or apply perfume, except for a little Qust or Azfar, when she has been purified after her menstruation." [Agreed upon. The wording being of Muslim] . Abu Dawud and an-Nasa'i have an addition: "nor be dyed (with Henna and the like)." an-Nasa'i added: "nor comb (her hair)."
Hadith Number: 949
وعن ام سلمة رضي الله عنها قالت: جعلت على عيني صبرا بعد ان توفي ابو سلمة فقال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم: «إنه يشب الوجه فلا تجعليه إلا بالليل وانزعيه بالنهار ولا تمتشطي بالطيب ولا بالحناء فإنه خضاب» . قلت: باي شيء امتشط؟ قال: «بالسدر» . رواه ابو داود والنسائي وإسناده حسن.
Narrated Umm Salamah (RA): I put Sabir (a type of medicine) on my eyes after Abu Salamah (RA) had died. So Allah's Messenger ( صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ) said: "It gives the face a glow, so apply it only at night and remove it in the day time, and do not comb (your hair) with scent or henna, for it is a dye." I asked, "What should I use when combing (my hair)?" He replied, "You should use lote-tree leaves." [Reported by Abu Dawud and an-Nasa'i: its chain of narrators is Hasan (good)] .
Hadith Number: 950
وعنها رضي الله عنها ان امراة قالت: يا رسول الله إن ابنتي مات عنها زوجها وقد اشتكت عينها افنكحلها؟ قال: «لا» متفق عليه
Narrated [Umm Salamah (RA)] : A woman said: "O Allah's Messenger, my daughter's husband died and her eye is troubling her, so may we apply Kuhl (antimony) to it?" He replied, "No." [Agreed upon] .
Hadith Number: 951
وعن جابر رضي الله عنه قال: طلقت خالتي فارادت ان تجد نخلها فزجرها رجل ان تخرج فاتت النبي صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم فقال: «بلى فجدي نخلك فإنك عسى ان تصدقي او تفعلي معروفا» رواه مسلم.
Narrated Jabir (RA): My maternal aunt was divorced and wanted to cut down fruit from her paml-trees. A man forbade her to go out, so she went to the Prophet ( صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ) and he said, "Certainly, cut down fruit from your palm-trees, for perhaps you have give Sadaqah (charity) or do an act of kindness." [Reported by Muslim] .
Hadith Number: 952
وعن فريعة بنت مالك ان زوجها خرج في طلب اعبد له فقتلوه. قالت: فسالت رسول الله صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم ان ارجع إلى اهلي فإن زوجي لم يترك لي مسكنا يملكه ولا نفقة فقال: «نعم» فلما كنت في الحجرة ناداني فقال: «امكثي في بيتك حتى يبلغ الكتاب اجله» قالت: فاعتددت فيه اربعة اشهر وعشرا قالت: فقضى به بعد ذلك عثمان. اخرجه احمد والاربعة وصححه الترمذي والذهلي وابن حبان والحاكم وغيرهم.
Narrated Furai'ah, daughter of Malik: Her husband had gone out in search of some slaves of his and they killed him. She said, "I asked Allah's Messenger ( صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ) to be allowed to return to my family, for my husband had not left for me a house which belonged to him, nor had he left me maintenance." He then said, "Yes, (I agree)," but when I was in the courtyard, he called me and said, "Stay in your house till the prescribed period expires." She said, "I observed the period in it for four months and ten days." She said, "Afterwards 'Uthman gave judgements in accordance with that." [Ahmad an al-Arba'a reported it. at-Tirmidhi, adh-Dhuhli, Ibn Hibban, al-Hakim and others graded it Sahih (authentic)] .
Hadith Number: 953
وعن فاطمة بنت قيس قالت: قلت: يا رسول الله صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم إن زوجي طلقني ثلاثا واخاف ان يقتحم علي؟ فامرها فتحولت. رواه مسلم
Narrated Fatimah (RA) daughter of Qais: I said, "O Allah's Messenger, my husband has divorced me by three pronouncements (of divorce) and I am afraid that I may get broken into. Hence, he commanded her, and she moved (to another house)." [Reported by Muslim] .
Hadith Number: 954
وعن عمرو بن العاص رضي الله عنه قال:" لا تلبسوا علينا سنة نبينا عدة ام الولد إذا توفي عنها سيدها اربعة اشهر وعشر" رواه احمد وابو داود وابن ماجه وصححه الحاكم واعله الدارقطني بالانقطاع.
Narrated 'Amr bin al-'Aas (RA): "Do not confuse us about our Prophet's Sunnah: The period that a slave-woman, whose master dies, and she has begotten a child from him must wait for, is four months and ten days." [Reported by Ahmad, Abu Dawud and Ibn Majah. al-Hakim graded it Sahih (authentic), but ad-Daraqutni considered it defective due to Inqita' (broken link)] .
