Chapter: Virtue of Maintaining Ties of Kinship
Hadith Number: 52
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him), he says: A man came to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and said: O Messenger of Allah! I have some relatives with whom I maintain ties, while they sever relations with me. I treat them well, and they treat me badly. They behave ignorantly towards me, yet I act with patience and forbearance. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), after hearing this, said: "If it is as you say, then you are putting dust in their mouths, meaning they themselves will be humiliated, and as long as you remain steadfast in your conduct, Allah’s help will continue to be with you."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdur Rahman bin Awf (may Allah be pleased with him) that he heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) say:“Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, says: I am the Most Merciful (Rahman) and I have created the womb (rahm). I have named it after My own name (Rahman). So whoever maintains its ties, I will maintain ties with him, and whoever severs it, I will sever ties with him.”

It is narrated from Abu Anbas, may Allah have mercy on him, who says: I went to the land of Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr, may Allah be pleased with them both, in Taif, and he related that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, folded his finger and gestured with it, and said: "The womb (rahm) is derived from the Most Merciful (Rahman). Whoever maintains it, Allah will maintain (connection with) him, and whoever severs it, the Most Merciful will cut him off from Himself. On the Day of Resurrection, it will have an eloquent and articulate tongue (with which it will plead before Allah)."

It is narrated from Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "The womb (rahm) is derived from (the name of) Allah, so whoever joins it, Allah will join him, and whoever severs it, Allah will sever him."
