Khalid bin Rabee’ (may Allah have mercy on him) says that when Sayyiduna Hudhaifah (may Allah be pleased with him) became seriously ill, the news reached his friends and the Ansar, so they came to visit him for his care in the middle of the night or close to the time of suhoor. Sayyiduna Hudhaifah (may Allah be pleased with him) asked: What time is this? We said: It is the middle of the night or the time of suhoor. He said: I seek refuge with Allah from a morning in which there is entry into Hellfire. Then he said: Have you brought a shroud for me? We said: Yes! He said: Do not make my shroud from expensive cloth, because if there is good for me with Allah, I will be given something better than this, and if it is otherwise, then this too will soon be taken away from me. In the narration of Abu Idrees Khawlani (may Allah have mercy on him), it is mentioned that we came to him during a part of the night.

It is narrated from Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When a believer falls ill, Allah Almighty cleanses him of sins just as a furnace cleanses the impurities of iron."

It is narrated from Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Whatever affliction, pain, or illness befalls a Muslim, it surely becomes an expiation for his sins, even if a thorn pricks him or he suffers a minor injury, his sins are forgiven through it."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Sa’d (may Allah be pleased with him) that I became severely ill in Makkah Mukarramah, so the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) came to visit me. I said: O Messenger of Allah! I am leaving behind a considerable amount of wealth, while my only heir is a single daughter. Should I bequeath two-thirds of my wealth in the way of Allah, and leave one-third for her? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:“No.”I said: Should I bequeath half of my wealth and leave half for my daughter? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:“No.”I said: Should I bequeath one-third and leave two-thirds for her? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:“Bequeath one-third, and even a third is much.”Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) placed his hand on my forehead, passed his hand over my face and stomach, then said: «اللَّهُمَّ اشْفِ سَعْدًا وَأَتِمَّ لَهُ هِجْرَتَهُ» “O Allah! Grant Sa’d healing and complete his migration.”I continued to feel the coolness of the Prophet’s hand in my liver, even until now.
