From the Book of Fasting
باب النَّهْيِ عَنِ التَّقَدُّمِ في الصِّيَامِ قَبْلَ الرُّؤْيَةِ:
Chapter: Prohibition of Fasting Before the Crescent Is Sighted
Hadith Number: 1727
اخبرنا وهب بن جرير، حدثنا هشام، عن يحيى، عن ابي سلمة، عن ابي هريرة رضي الله عنه، قال: قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم: "لا تقدموا قبل رمضان يوما، ولا يومين، إلا ان يكون رجلا كان يصوم صوما، فليصمه".
Sayyiduna Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) said that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Do not fast a day or two before Ramadan, except for a person who has the habit of fasting on those days, then he may fast on that day as well."
