From the Book of Vows and Oaths
باب مَنْ نَذَرَ أَنْ يُصَلِّيَ في بَيْتِ الْمَقْدِسِ أَيُجْزِئُهُ أَنْ يُصَلِّيَ بِمَكَّةَ:
Chapter: If One Vows to Pray in Jerusalem, Is Praying in Mecca Sufficient?
Hadith Number: 2376
حدثنا حجاج بن منهال، حدثنا حماد بن سلمة، عن حبيب بن ابي بقية المعلم، عن عطاء بن ابي رباح، عن جابر بن عبد الله: ان رجلا قال: يا رسول الله إني نذرت إن فتح الله عليك ان اصلي في بيت المقدس؟ فقال: "صل هاهنا". فاعاد عليه ثلاث مرات، فقال النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم:"شانك إذن".
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) that a man said: O Messenger of Allah! I had vowed that if Allah grants you the conquest of Makkah, I would go to Bayt al-Maqdis and pray there. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Pray here (in the Ka'bah)." He repeated his question three times, then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Now it is up to you" (meaning you have the choice to go to Bayt al-Maqdis and pray there and fulfill your vow).
