باب في تَغْيِيرِ الأَسْمَاءِ:
Chapter on changing names
Hadith Number: 2732
حدثنا حجاج بن منهال، حدثنا حماد هو: ابن سلمة، عن عبيد الله، عن نافع، عن ابن عمر: ان ام عاصم كان يقال لها عاصية، "فسماها النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم جميلة".
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that Sayyidah Umm Asim (may Allah be pleased with her), whose name was Asiyah (disobedient), the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) changed her name (and) named her Jameelah.

حدثنا مسدد، حدثنا يحيى بن سعيد، حدثنا شعبة، حدثنا عطاء بن ابي ميمونة، عن ابي رافع، عن ابي هريرة، قال: كان اسم زينب، برة، "فسماها النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم زينب".
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The name of Sayyidah Zainab (may Allah be pleased with her) was Barrah (very pious), but the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) changed it to Zainab.
