Sayyiduna Zaid bin Thabit (may Allah be pleased with him) said: All kinds of people will inherit from each other, but those whose death is unknown due to a building collapse or drowning will not inherit from each other; only the living person will be their heir.

Yahya bin Atiq said: I have read in some writings of Umar bin Abdul Aziz, may Allah have mercy on him: Those people upon whom a house collapsed and it could not be known whose death occurred first, and none of the deceased will inherit from the other; rather, only the heirs of the deceased will be the inheritors.

Ja'far bin Muhammad narrated from his father that Umm Kulthum and her son Zaid (ibn Umar) both died on the same day. The women who mourned met them on the way. None of them inherited from their deceased, and the people of Harrah did not inherit from each other, nor did the people of Siffin inherit from each other.

Shu’bi (may Allah have mercy on him) said: In Syria, a house collapsed on some people, and Sayyiduna ‘Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) declared them heirs of one another.

Abu Harish said: Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) declared two brothers who had died in the Battle of Siffin to be heirs of one another.
