باب فَضْلِ مَنْ قَرَأَ الْقُرْآنَ:
Chapter on the virtue of reciting the Quran
Hadith Number: 3358
حدثنا مسلم بن إبراهيم، حدثنا الحسن بن ابي جعفر، حدثنا بديل، عن انس، قال: قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم: "إن لله اهلين من الناس، قيل: يا رسول الله، من هم؟ قال: اهل القرآن".
Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Among people, there are some who are Allah's people." It was asked: Who are the people of Allah? He said: "They are the people of the Qur'an" (i.e., those who recite and teach the Qur'an).

Hadith Number: 3359
حدثنا عمرو بن عاصم، حدثنا حماد بن سلمة، عن عاصم بن بهدلة، عن مغيث، عن كعب، قال: "عليكم بالقرآن، فإنه فهم العقل، ونور الحكمة، وينابيع العلم، واحدث الكتب بالرحمن عهدا، وقال في التوراة: يا محمد، إني منزل عليك توراة حديثة، تفتح فيها اعينا عميا، وآذانا صما، وقلوبا غلفا".
Sayyiduna Ka'b (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Hold fast to the Qur'an, for it gives understanding to the intellect, it is the light of wisdom, the source of knowledge, and among the books that bring one close to Allah, it is the newest. In the Torah, Allah Almighty addressed (saying): O Muhammad! I am going to send down upon you the Torah as a new book, by which closed eyes, deaf ears, and hearts covered with heedless veils will be opened.

Hadith Number: 3360
حدثنا سهل بن حماد، حدثنا شعبة، حدثنا زياد بن مخراق، عن ابي إياس، عن ابي كنانة، عن ابي موسى، انه قال: "إن هذا القرآن كائن لكم اجرا، وكائن لكم ذكرا، وكائن بكم نورا، وكائن عليكم وزرا، اتبعوا القرآن، ولا يتبعكم القرآن، فإنه من يتبع القرآن، يهبط به في رياض الجنة، ومن اتبعه القرآن يزخ في قفاه، فيقذفه في جهنم". قال ابو محمد: يزخ: يدفع.
Sayyiduna Abu Musa (may Allah be pleased with him) said: This Noble Qur’an is a source of reward and recompense for you, a remembrance and a light for you, or (if you do not act upon it) it is a burden for you. Follow this Qur’an, and (beware) do not let the Qur’an pursue you, for whoever follows the Qur’an, it will lead him to the gardens of Paradise, and whoever is pursued by the Qur’an, it will drag him by the back of his neck and throw him into Hell. Imam Darimi (may Allah have mercy on him) said: «يزخ» means «يدفع» , that is, to drag away.

Hadith Number: 3361
حدثنا عبد الله بن يزيد، حدثنا موسى بن ايوب، قال سمعت عمي إياس بن عامر، يقول: اخذ علي بن ابي طالب بيدي، ثم قال: "إنك إن بقيت، سيقرا القرآن ثلاثة اصناف: فصنف لله، وصنف للجدال، وصنف للدنيا، ومن طلب به ادرك".
Iyas bin Amir says: Sayyiduna Ali bin Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him) held my hand and then said: If you live (long enough, you will see that) three types of people will recite the Qur'an: one group will recite the Qur'an for Allah, one group for argument and debate, and one group will recite it for the world, and whoever recites it for worldly gain will attain what he seeks.

Hadith Number: 3362
حدثنا سليمان بن حرب، عن حماد بن زيد، عن ايوب، عن ابي قلابة: ان رجلا قال لابي الدرداء:"إن إخوانك من اهل الكوفة، من اهل الذكر، يقرئونك السلام. فقال: وعليهم السلام، ومرهم فليعطوا القرآن بخزائمهم، فإنه يحملهم على القصد والسهولة، ويجنبهم الجور والحزونة".
It is narrated from Abu Qilabah that a man said to Sayyiduna Abu Darda (may Allah be pleased with him): "Your brothers, the people of remembrance in Kufa, send you greetings of peace." He replied: "And peace be upon them. Tell them to give the Qur'an its due right (that is, to fully follow its commands). The Qur'an will lead them to moderation and ease, and it will protect them from injustice and excess."

Hadith Number: 3363
اخبرنا محمد بن يزيد الرفاعي، حدثنا الحسين الجعفي، عن حمزة الزيات، عن ابي المختار الطائي، عن ابن اخي الحارث، عن الحارث، قال: دخلت المسجد، فإذا اناس يخوضون في احاديث، فدخلت على علي، فقلت: الا ترى ان اناسا يخوضون في الاحاديث في المسجد؟ فقال: قد فعلوها؟ قلت: نعم، قال: اما إني سمعت رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم، يقول: "ستكون فتن"، قلت: وما المخرج منها؟ قال: كتاب الله، كتاب الله فيه نبا ما قبلكم، وخبر ما بعدكم، وحكم ما بينكم، هو الفصل ليس بالهزل، هو الذي من تركه من جبار، قصمه الله، ومن ابتغى الهدى في غيره، اضله الله، فهو حبل الله المتين، وهو الذكر الحكيم، وهو الصراط المستقيم، وهو الذي لا تزيغ به الاهواء، ولا تلتبس به الالسنة، ولا يشبع منه العلماء، ولا يخلق عن كثرة الرد، ولا تنقضي عجائبه، وهو الذي لم ينته الجن إذ سمعته ان قالوا: إنا سمعنا قرءانا عجبا سورة الجن آية 1، هو الذي من قال به صدق، ومن حكم به عدل، ومن عمل به اجر، ومن دعا إليه هدي إلى صراط مستقيم" خذها إليك يا اعور.
Harith al-A'war said: I entered the mosque and saw that people were engaging in idle talk, so I went to Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) and said: Do you not see that people are sitting in the mosque making idle talk? He said: Are they really doing that? I said: Yes. Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Listen! I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "Soon there will appear tribulations." I asked: What is the way out of them? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The Book of Allah (that is, the means of protection from them is the Qur'an). In Allah's Book is the news of those before you, and the news of those who will come after you, and it is the judge between you (that is, it is the ruling for the disputes among you). It is decisive, not jest. Whoever abandons it out of contempt, Allah will break him, and whoever seeks guidance in anything other than it, Allah will misguide him. It is the strong rope of Allah, and it is the wise reminder, and the straight path. It is a Book which desires (whims) cannot distort, and tongues cannot confuse, and the scholars never tire of it, nor does it become old from repeated recitation, and its wonders never end. It is a Book that when the jinn heard it, they could not help but say: 'Indeed, we have heard a marvelous Qur'an.' [الجن 1/72] Whoever speaks according to it has spoken the truth, whoever judges by it has judged justly, whoever acts upon it will be rewarded, and whoever calls to it is guided to the straight path." O Harith al-A'war, memorize it.

Hadith Number: 3364
حدثنا محمد بن العلاء، حدثنا زكريا بن عدي، حدثنا محمد بن سلمة، عن ابن سنان، عن عمرو بن مرة، عن ابي البختري، عن الحارث، عن علي، قال: قيل: يا رسول الله، إن امتك ستفتتن من بعدك، قال: فسال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم او سئل: ما المخرج منها؟ قال: "الكتاب العزيز الذي لا ياتيه الباطل من بين يديه ولا من خلفه تنزيل من حكيم حميد سورة فصلت آية 42 من ابتغى الهدى في غيره، فقد اضله الله، ومن ولي هذا الامر من جبار فحكم بغيره، قصمه الله، هو الذكر الحكيم، والنور المبين، والصراط المستقيم، فيه خبر من قبلكم، ونبا ما بعدكم، وحكم ما بينكم، وهو الفصل ليس بالهزل، وهو الذي سمعته الجن فلم تتناه ان قالوا: إنا سمعنا قرءانا عجبا سورة الجن آية 1، ولا يخلق عن كثرة الرد، ولا تنقضي عبره، ولا تفنى عجائبه"، ثم قال علي للحارث: خذها إليك يا اعور.
It is narrated from Harith al-A'war that Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) said: It was submitted to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him): After you, it is possible that your Ummah may be afflicted with tribulations. Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) said, they asked the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), or it was asked from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), what is the way out from these tribulations? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The way out from it is the honorable Book of Allah (which falsehood cannot approach, neither from before it nor from behind it, it is sent down from the Wise, the Praiseworthy... Fussilat 41:42), whoever seeks guidance in anything other than it, Allah will misguide him, whoever is made a ruler over an affair and judges without it, Allah will break him, it is the wise reminder, the clear light, and the straight path. In it is the news of those before you and information about those who will come after you, and it is the judge among you, decisive, not jesting. This Qur'an is such that when the jinn heard it, they could not refrain from saying, 'We have heard a marvelous Qur'an, which guides to the right path.' [الجن 1/72]

Hadith Number: 3365
اخبرنا محمد بن يوسف، حدثنا سفيان، عن ابي حمزة، عن إبراهيم: ومن يؤت الحكمة فقد اوتي خيرا كثيرا سورة البقرة آية 269، قال: "الفهم بالقرآن".
It is narrated from Ibrahim, may Allah have mercy on him, regarding this verse: «﴿وَمَنْ يُؤْتَ الْحِكْمَةَ . . . . . .﴾» [البقره: 269/2] that by "wisdom" is meant understanding of the Qur'an. That is: whoever is given wisdom and understanding has been given much good.

Hadith Number: 3366
اخبرنا محمد بن يوسف، عن ورقاء، عن ابن ابي نجيح، عن مجاهد: يؤتي الحكمة من يشاء سورة البقرة آية 269، قال: "الكتاب يؤتي إصابته من يشاء".
Mujahid said: «﴿يُؤْتِي الْحِكْمَةَ مَنْ يَشَاءُ . . . . . .﴾» [البقره: 269/2] Allah grants wisdom to whom He wills; in this verse, wisdom means the Divine Book, and whoever (Allah wills), He grants sound judgment.

Hadith Number: 3367
اخبرنا محمد بن يزيد، حدثنا ابو بكر، عن الاعمش، عن خيثمة، قال: قال لامراته: "إياك ان تدخلي بيتي من يشرب الخمر، بعد ان كان يقرا فيه القرآن كل ثلاث".
Khaythamah said to his wife: Beware! Do not let those who drink wine enter my house, even if the Qur'an is recited in it every three days.
