Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with both of them) says: We went to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) on the day of Jumu'ah and there was food in front of him from which he was eating, so the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Come near and eat the food." We said: "We are fasting, O Messenger of Allah!" He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Did you fast yesterday as well?" We said: "No!" He said: "Do you intend to fast tomorrow as well?" We said: "No!" He said: "Then come near and eat this food, for it is not correct to fast only on the day of Jumu'ah."
