Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that indeed a man freed his slave despite being in debt, so he became needy. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) seized him and said: "Who will buy him from me?" So Naeem bin Abdullah bought him for such and such amount, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) handed him over to him.
