The Book of Clothing
(الثِّيَابُ الْمُلَوَّنَةُ تَلِيقُ بِالنِّسَاءِ)
(Colored clothes are suitable for women)
Hadith Number: 4362
4362 - وعن عبد الله بن عمرو بن العاص - رضي الله عنهما - قال: رآني رسول الله - صلى الله عليه وسلم - وعلي ثوب مصبوغ بعصفر موردا، فقال:"ما هذا"فعرفت ما كره، فانطلقت، فاحرقته. فقال النبي - صلى الله عليه وسلم: ما صنعت بثوبك؟ قلت: احرقته. قال:"افلا كسوته بعض اهلك؟ ; فإنه لا باس به للنساء". رواه ابو داود.
‘Abdallah b. ‘Amr b. al-‘As said:God’s messenger saw me wearing a garment dyed with a reddish yellow dye and asked what this was, so as I recognised what he disliked I went away and burned it. He asked me what I had done with my garment, and when I told him I had burned it he said,“Why did you not give it to one of your family to wear, for there is no harm in it for women ?”Abu Dawud transmitted it.
