The Book of Clothing
(لَا يَجُوزُ لِلنِّسَاءِ الْمِلْحَفَةُ الرَّقِيقَةُ إِذَا خِيفَتِ الْفِتْنَةُ)
(Women are not allowed to wear a thin veil if exposure is feared)
Hadith Number: 4375
4375 - وعن علقمة بن ابي علقمة، عن امه قالت: دخلت حفصة بنت عبد الرحمن على عائشة وعليها خمار رقيق ، فشقته عائشة وكستها خمارا كثيفا. رواه مالك.
‘Alqama b. Abu ‘Alqama quoted his mother as saying that when Hafsa daughter of ‘Abd ar-Rahman visited ‘A’isha wearing a thin veil, ‘A’isha tore it and put a thick veil on her. Malik transmitted it.
